HAVE ANOTHER GO!

I wanted to practise using iMovie again, so took some clips of surfboards going through the Ocean Magic surfboard factory. As happens often, I learn a few new things and also discover how little I know!

Goes without saying, there is a lot of practise needed. Still, it is enjoyable. Photographs, artwork, prints and bulletin can be seen at sleeplessink.com

NEARLY FORGOT!

I used the iMovie video editing app for the first time this week. For some reason it had never occurred to me to edit video, I have taken a few clips here and there, more intrigue with the function on a camera or phone rather than thinking of creating anything to keep. It came about by chance when Harry, who I work with at Ocean Magic, passed by the spray bay and videoed me doing a paint drag on a surfboard. He sent me the clip and I imported it into iMovie to just reduce its duration.  Next thing I was grappling with techniques posted on YouTube, with a bit of perseverance I had added music, a title and edited the time down to a watchable snippet.

So, super stoked to find a new avenue for ideas! To see more work and further bulletins there is always the sleeplessink.com website.

FROM THE VAULTS

Earlier in the week I had the pleasure of selling a few prints that I created several years ago. It is rewarding to find out they are still on walls in places, enough to generate enquiries and subsequently sales.

I like to work on new ideas and am always on the lookout for inspiration. But every now and then, when interest is shown in previous work, it encourages me to take a little look back, rummage through drawers looking for work to review and resurface. Maybe even set up a page on the sleeplessink.com website dedicated to work from the vaults.

NORTH SHORE, OAHU

Photographs from my visit to the North Shore of Oahu. It was amazing to be there after decades of reading, hearing and watching films from the seven mile miracle, just to walk up and down the beach between Pupukea and Sunset Beach sent excitement through me.

A DAY LEADS TO RETHINK

The last post ended with a thought that surfing in England was incomparable to surfing in Hawaii.

There are obvious differences, but I think the statement was swayed by having just returned from the North Shore of Oahu, straight into cold, overcast, onshore north Cornwall in late February.

The difference will be forever blatant, but thankfully there will be days when the conditions join and force a rethink. This was one of those days.
